Madre In Spanish

It is an idiomatic expression that in Spain means: great, superb.
Example: En Barcelona me sentí de puta madre - In Barcelona I felt great.
Translated into English it does not make much sense: "like a whore who is a mother".
Apparently the Spanish believe that a prostitute's happiness reaches its highest level when she - against odds - becomes a happy mother.

It's very difficult to find a direct translation, since insults are used differently in different languages. When we use that expression (at least, here in Argentina) it shows we're either annoyed, or furious over something, as in "¡Pero la puta madre! ¡Se me cayó la botella!" (The last sentence would be "I dropped the bottle!").

But we also use it, believe it or not, to show admiration. When you say of someone (I insist, HERE, in Argentina) that he's "un pianista de puta madre", or that he plays the piano "de puta madre", you mean he's a great pianist, or that he plays the piano very well.

So, that's the context, you find yourself the translation you like most.

Very vulgar: literally it means "mother whore," (or vise versa) but as an expletive it roughly translates, depending on the situation, and your background as:
"Mother fu*k it!" or "Mother fuc*er!"
"Oh fu*k!"
"Son of a bitc*!" etc.
In other words it's a phrase you use when you're really pis*ed.

a direct translation is whore mother. But as it's slang, it may not translate in meaning.

I'm not sure but I think you got the grammar wrong. But more or less you would be calling someone's mother a prostitute.
