This was a religion designed by committee, and it changes hourly.
What's your point, since there's no way to know?

I got some emails from a true christian man who just accused me of stealing fom the cabin i rented from him, when all i did was accidentally pack the key.
then he called me a moocher cause I live with my parents, if you'd like to see these Christians emails I'll share them.
But I know the truth and the false cause I deal with it daily being poor and on assistance everyone tells me I am trailer trash, etc.
I will become a nurse in four years time and a missionary and Jesus was not kidding when he said his people the "elect" would be hated.
So be it.
By the way I am not prostituting or selling drugs but on welfare, so now I am a lazy criminal?
Never piss off a future nurse who may hold your hands in her life. Trust me I'd have a job today if I didn't have to pay 40,000 and spend 4 years in school.

You ask a very difficult question....to put it in its simplest terms to be Christian means to be a "follower of Christ". That is what the Word Christian means, but to BE a Christian has to do with ones faith. Faith in Christ being the sole means of salvation for a dammed soul; faith that Jesus Christ was True God and True Man, and that by being both God and Man his death upon the cross brought salvation to all who believe it. That is the definition of Christian in general terms.
But, Christianity, as a religion, does not exist in the sense that I believe your question was pertaining to ask. Christianity is broken down into many different sects of religious organization. They are Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, etc. and the differences between these religions are so great that most refuse to worship or pray with the other, and at times refuse to even acknowledge there existence. An example being the Lutheran Church, within Lutheranism consists Synods. Each with their own doctrines and understanding of the Bible. A Wisconsin Lutheran Synod Member is forbidden to pray or worship with a member of another faith, including other Lutherans not of the same synod. This practice is called The Doctrine of Closed Worship, and is used by most of Christianity.
I hope in some way this answers your question. God Bless.

First of all - it is wrong of you to assume that they don't know what they are talking about when you clearly are asking the same questions.
To be a Christian is to be Christ like. That means that you should act and do things that God would want you to do. Read your Bible, pray to him, go to church, worship, pray for others and live the life he gave you to the best of your ability. It also means not to judge and condemn people because of their mistakes. Everyone makes them and anyone can make a complete change in their lives in a second with Jesus. It is no-ones right to judge but Gods.
You should also try to get people to understand and give testimony about what God has done for you. I have found that to be the best way to get people to listen and actually want to change their lives.
Basically - act like God is next to you all the time - he is anyway, but if you are conscious of that, then you will make better decisions on what you do. Get rid of ungodly things in your life - do these things and it will open doors for God to do wonderful things in your own life.
Everyone sins, but as a Christian you are more aware of the sins you commit and you ask forgiveness for those sins.
Set good examples for your friends and children.
Should I go on? Hope this has helped.
Of course you can't do any of these things until you have asked God into your heart and accepted him as your Lord and savior. Then doing all the things I listed will strengthen you and you will learn to hear God and folloe the path he has laid out for you and you WILL receive blessings.

You are right, many consider themselves Christians and don't have a clue what the Bible says.. You see below that after the wars, pestilence and famines, earthquakes, then comes the persecution and that is where we are coming to now. Most Christians would have a fit if they had to put their life on the line.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

A christian is basically a branch of religion its the belief in God the son and the holy spirit, the basic belief is from the bible depending on what christian church you go to, like myself I am southern baptist and my church leans more toward the old testament ways but also a small bit of the new testament, Christians strive to live their lives based on the 10 commandments. Humans are no where near perfect, we will never be perfect like Jesus, but he tells us to live our life like he did and to go out and make fishers of men which is to go and tell others about his word, when you become a christian you are telling Jesus that you are ready to live a life where he is number one and that you are ready for him to make decisions in your life. Only then will you be promised to drank from the cup of life which is a promise to all people that when they die they will have a place in heaven, you can only make it there that way by accepting him into your heart, no amount of good deeds will get you there. I'm not sure if that is the answer you are looking for but that is the basics of a christian belief.

I believe many people put themselves in the category of being a Christian because they don't want to be of another religion. Regardless of your belief, you will continue to sin.
As for the meaning of being a Christian, if you believe 100% in Jesus and the word of the Bible, then you are a Christian.

Do you? If so, I'm interested what you think it means.
I know what I know and I try my best. There are probably more times I fail than I succeed, yet I identify myself as a Christian nonetheless. It's not because I see myself as one, but because I see myself as one who tries his best to be one.
One way I think most Americans fail and will fail for some time is that we are blind to the luxeries we are surrounded by and because of that blindness we miss endless opportunities to help our neighbors. We believe we need a cell phone that takes pictures, yet there's a neighbor who, if they had $50 more a month, wouldn't have to dance on a table to feed thier baby. We spend time playing solitaire or watching some useless tv when our teenager is chatting inappropriately on the computer they have in their room. God doesn't need to bless America anymore, at least not with luxeries. Okay... I'm rambling now...

I am a christian, and being a christian means that you llive by the 10 commandments, and that you have accepted Christ in your heart and know that he is our savior and love him and strive to live like he did. Honest, kind, careing, helpful.....just because some people call themselves christians and don't live the lifestyle of one, doesn't mean we are all like that. So what does it mean to you?

Yes, I do......but I want this to be a short answer. I would hope that you would remember that even christians are human and they are going to sin. The diffrence between you and me is that I recognized that I couldnt save myself and that God loved me so much that he sent his one and only son to die on the cross for me. Once you accept jesus as your saviour, living as christ did should be something we strive for. Since we aren't perfect, we will make mistakes.
I encourage you to read the bible. not only does it show you the characterisitics of a true christian, but it also helps those who can't telll a diffrence. good luck.

The word "christian" means to be christ-like. Following closely the example that christ set would make a person "christian". It is more than just believing in jesus; faith without works is dead.
