My grandpa was born in Kilarney (sp?), but I've never been there. Thats on my list of things to do before I turn 40. I'd like to go for about a month or so.
I live in CA, btw..

For the record 1/4 of all americans claim to have Irish ancestory on St. Patricks day 3/4 claim it loud and proud. I'm not entirly sure how Irish I am (maybe 1/17 if that) or where they're from. But I would like to visit Ireland someday.

I am from Pennsylvania. My grandparents immigrated from Ireland. The Collins' are from County Galway. The O'Donoghue clan is from County Rosscommon.
I have been to Ireland only twice and I hope to visit many times in the future. It is the most magical and enchanted place on earth. It is so gorgeous.. like a dream.. just like heaven.
The people are are gentle, friendly, and polite.
I daydream all the time about moving to Ireland, but I am afraid that I might not find a job to support my lifestyle.

Hey, I'm Irish-German-American...my dad is from a small town near the border of Waterford and Kilkenny. My mom's Irish ancestors are from Cork. We're all in San Francisco, and my parents and my older siblings have been there. I'm planning on going in a couple of years, and I'm really considering moving permanently cause I love the culture, the language, and the people. I just wish other Irish Americans (or ppl who claim to be) would get involved in their culture. As for people claiming to be Irish American, so many Irish immigrated to the US and other places like Austraila, New Zealand, etc, so it's possible.

With my red hair I've heard " You have a wee bit of the Irish in you." many times. 40 million Americans claim Irish ancestry. The Irish have a strong & proud heritage. Ravaged by the Vikings, conquered by English. 25% died during potato famine. Half moved to America. 20 or so times switched between Anglican & Catholic & persecuted by the other. Even in America were looked on with suspicion & took a long time to integrate. My family was from Ross. I live in Florida but have never been [yet] back home.

I am adopted. I know I am of Irish decent. But I haven't researched my heritage. I've been to Ireland and literally wept while walking the grounds of Tara. I felt I was home.

Anybody out there...visit Ireland. It's the most beautiful place.

My great great grandmother was born in Kilmichael, County Cork and her name was Mary Coakley (her mother was a Duggan).

Her husband was also born in Ireland but I've no idea where as no records here in America exist to say where and I have not found a ships passage for him. His name was Patrick Murray (his mother was a McGuire).

On my Paternal side I have a great great grandmother born in Ireland but again not sure where as I cannot find a passenger record on her. Her name was Bridget O'Neil.

I live in Connecticut which is the state east of New York City.

No I have not been to Ireland yet but that is on my list of places I really want to see.

My name is O'Donnell and some of my ancestors came from County Cork. Right now I'm having difficulty locating my family tree. My ancestors came to New York. I live in South Carolina. I have never been to Ireland, but am afraid if I did go, I wouldn't want to return to the states!!! By the way, I have a shamrock tatooed right above my right ankle.

Irish-American here and proud of it. My family is from the County of Cork, hope I spelled that right. I live in Texas, but my family came over during the Potato Famine, Connelly is the Last name. Never been to Ireland, but one day I hope to go. My Daddy went when I was little but decided not to take me because he was going into Northern Ireland and was scared to take me because of the fighting.

I am Irish and my last name is the name of a town in Ireland but I'm not going to put my last name on the internet for everyone to see. Otherwise I live in California.
