don't listen to all the gobbledy-goob down below.
NO. second hand smoke can not be detected unless you directly inhaled the smoke. Your body is not taking in that much of the THC as the person who is directly inhaling the smoke. Your body will metabolize and get rid of the "second hand smoke" at a much faster rate than the smoker. However, the smoker inhales the smoke deep into his / her lungs and holds it there for a few seconds, then releases. Most of this smoke already has many of the toxins or intoxicants already removed from it into the bloodstream of the direct smoker.
When they are doing a drug test, they are looking for the metabolites of the drugs, not the drugs themselves. If you are still unsure, take 2 1000mg of vitamine C and drink a half gallon of orange juice or some other juice high in citric acid. Go to your local Rite-Aid, Walgreens, or Wal-Mart and get a 3way drug screening test ( it tests for 3 seperate metabolites ) and pee on it to see waht happens. Advil and Motrin both contain ibuprofin which makes you test positive for pot on some older tests too, so be careful.
Hell, it should be legal anyway! When was the last time you heard of someone killing somebody else because they were high and not drunk or on crack or meth, hmmmmm???

My son is in a program through the local courts. The judge claimed that you will NOT test positive for THC on a urine test if you are merely in the same room with someone smoking. I've also been told (though the source isn't terribly reliable) that you can still get stoned by getting shot guns from someone. As long as the smoke has been in their lungs first, there is not enough THC to show in a test but enough to get you buzzed. I wouldn't rely on that info if your job or freedom depends on it though!

Yes, Thc will show up on the drug test. I think they say that it takes about 30 days for Thc to leave to body. So if you got "contact high" in July, you'd still show up positive a month later.

One useless tidbit. If you eat poppy seeds, they can show up as positive for opiates (morphine) in a drug test....but only as a low dose.

it's not just yes/no on the results...they get a number, if it's high then they can tell you were too.
