What is Daniel 11:36 and on telling us about today?

What countries are being described other than Isreal? When will these wars happen? It appears at the start of Daniel 12 that the next thing to occur is Christ's second advent or return to the earth to bring His saints home.

As I stated earlier, this is not a study that can truly be undertaken in this format. Nor is it a study that should be taken lightly. I think much time, thought and prayer has to go into this.

I will give you an example using vs. 36 & 37.

Dan 11: 36. And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

1.The king…… What king (or power)? It has to be a king that has been referred to previously…“The” denotes it is one that has previously been mentioned before.

2.according to his will ….. dominion over the world without opposition …This is not Israel


3.and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods ….. Compare to 2 Thess. 2:4 (I have included vs. 3)
3.Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling
away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4.Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that
he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

What power on earth today claims to actually speak for God? There is only one denomination that I
know of that actually has 1 person in charge whom they believe to be “God’s representative on earth”.

4.and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished….. Will remain until the resurrection of the
righteous. (Compare to Dan 8:24-25).

5.for that that is determined shall be done……….the destiny of this king has been determined and
revealed earlier. (Dan 8:19)

6. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, ……………Daniel 7 talks about the little horn being different from any earthly powers. Something different than any previous religion.

7.nor the desire of women,……………..Which denomination denies the right to marriage?

8.nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all I think this was covered above.

We cannot take a section and make it fit what we see around us right now. This is a book of prophecy and everything has to fall in place, including timelines. Daniel, much like revelation shows us the same prophecies several different times.

I am not trying to bash any one particular religion……….Most of the (protestant) denominations out here have not truly broken away from the “Mother Church” (Catholic). We have for a large part held onto some part of her teachings.

The best thing we can do for ourselves is to study (in depth) the Bible. We alone are responsible for our own salvation.

Both passages are describing events during the Tribulation.Chapter 11 is speaking of the anti-Christ. We are not to know WHEN this will happen,we must be prepared (Born Again) and vigilant to the signs of His return.Chapter 12 is describing the Rapture of the church at the return of Christ which is the begining of the Tribulation.

What is spoken of in 11 is the anti-Christ.

In the previous chapter he is talking about Persia (Iran), Syria, Egypt, and Greece.
Persia will attack Greece and will be defeated. Syria and Egypt will attack anti-Christ and be defeated. This is during the tribulation period.

Peace and Safety then sudden Destruction -

I believe that once we arrive at that point wherein they shall say “Peace and safety” (1 Thess.5:2-3 below) that then we will have the “sudden destruction” that will occur at the Sixth Seal (Re.6:12-17, Lk.17:24, Lk.21:34, Joel 1:15, Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20, Isa.2:19, Isa.13:6-11 below).


1 Thess.5:2For yourselves know perfectly that the DAY (Lk.17:24, Lk.21:34, Joel 1:15, Joel 2:31, Re.6:17 below) of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night (Matt.24:42, Matt.24:44 below).

Matt.24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
