Who diagnosed your dog? Do you know for sure that you're dealing with ear mites? They are transmitted by other animals. Your dog could have an infection, not ear mites. Ear problems are painful. Take your pet to the vet.

They have ear mite medications at the pet store. Loook for Ear Miticide for Dogs. You can buy it online at petco.com or petsmart.com.
You put the gel in the dogs ear and rub his ear a bit, then you wipe out his ear with a cotton ball. You have to repeat for a few days. This worked on my dog, but the ear mites came back. If any other pets that hang around your dog have ear mites, your dog will just get them again. It is better to go to the vet because they have treatments that offer long term relief from the ear mites.

buy ear mite med from the pet store... make sure it is ear mites though. I thought my cat had ear mites, turned out she had yeast in her ears... Dont know how she got it but it look just like ear mites!!
The way you check for earmites is, take a Qtip and get a good amount of the gunk out of the ear and set it on a dark surface, if you see little itty bitty white things moving, that is ear mites, if you dont see something, take it to the vet!!

Just coat the inside of their ear 2-3 times a day with vegetable, baby, mineral, or any other non toxic oil to suffocate the mites. Done this many times, it works.

Ear mites are bugs and there are many over the counter pesticides to kill them. Go to your local pet or feed store and they will have several products to choose from. They can spread to other dogs and you have to continue to treat for a few weeks to kill all the adults and the eggs. Watch your dog for infections due to all the scratching.

Any good pet store will have medication for this problem---Petco is the one that I use---be sure to follow the instructions to the letter --- it will require application and cleaning by a strict schedule for about 7 to 10 days and you should be in good shape-- be sure and check for them just every little bit for the next couple of months---they are tuff little boogers and they seem to want to come back for some little bit after they get started

I use mineral oil & clean the dog's ear out good with cotton. The dog really should go to the vet, though.
