It places responsibility elsewhere. If one lives within reality they have to be responsible for every action they take good or bad. Some can handle that, some cannot.

Simple: reality is boring! As the supernatural goes, it's interesting. There is a certain mystery to it. Our daily tasks that we do in our lifes are boring but supernatural things provide a break in the routine of our lives.

Reality, as with beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. I found that the more spiritual a person is, the more he becomes responsible for his own actions. At least that is what I found in all my research, for the last 22 adult years, on the religious and spiritual realms. A spiritual person is always looking at his wrongs, not putting the blame elsewhere, ie: God, his parents, society etc etc. It is not what I found from people living in the "other" realm. Freud blamed parents, Jung blamed.... and so forth. Give me a Spiritual person any day.

I deal with the reality of this life and world on a daily basis....Part of my relaity in this life is that there is a just God, who loves me enough to have left heaven, come to earth and live among the most vile. Then die for me. That is reality!

I think that every human needs to believe in something "that makes sense".

This belief can be religious, spiritual, philosophic, scientific, ...

Many scientists are very aware they have to be careful not to empower "faith" into their theoretical models, but to use them as transient tools.

Many people feel lost if they can't believe in something, I suppose. We need models that make sense in what we perceive.
