.iso is a image file. In order to open it, you need one of two things. First, you can burn the image on to a CD or DVD and then play it with any media player. Or, you can mount it on to a virtual drive emulator

To burn a iso image on to a CD or DVD, you need a image burning software program. There are loads of good free iso burners, such as Imgburn 2.0, DVD Decrypter, Windows Power or Toy ISO Recorder. Once you have burn the image, you can play it like any ordinary CD or DVD.

If you don't want to burn the iso image on to a CD or DVD, you can mount the iso image using something called a virtual drive emulator. A virtual drive emulator tricks the computer in to thinking the iso image saved on the hard drive is actually a real CD or DVD and you can play it on a virtual drive. There are a number of free virtual drive emulators. Some people mentioned Daemon Tools (http://www.filehippo.com/software/dvd/), which is a decent choice but be aware that it is adware. You can use the software without restrictions but expect to see occasional ads.

Microsoft has its own virtual drive emulator (http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/b/6/7b6abd84-7841-4978-96f5-bd58df02efa2/winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe), which is totally free - no spyware and no adware.

My favorite is Elaborate Bytes' Virtual CloneDrive (http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html)

Once you have chosen your software, mount the iso image to play it. Below are instructions to mount iso images using Microsoft's virtual drive emulator.

8. Select an unused drive letter from the drive list and click "Mount".
9. Navigate to the image file, select it, and click "OK". UNC naming conventions should not be used, however mapped network drives should be OK.

You may now use the drive letter as if it were a local CD-ROM device. When you are finished you may unmount, stop, and remove the driver from memory using the driver control.

I always use yahoo search engine. Just type in iso extentions or where to find programs for iso extentions or something of the sort, yahoo is great at finding things for me.

IF you want to use the iso on your computer, then get daemon tools.
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php
it will put it as a cd/dvd on your computer. just install it and when you do, choose the icon in the icon bar and right click it, then choose mount a drive, and when the selcet file appears go to the place where the file is stored, and select it. it will then act as if you had the cd/dvd in your drive
