If you want to know the capacity of the tank then measure the length, width and height (in centimeters) and multiply them all together. This will give you the total volume of the tank.
If you divide the result by 1000 it will give you the volume in liters, if you then go and divide this by 3.8 it will give you the volume in US gallons (divide by 4.6 for non-US gallons).
For example. A tank measures 50 x 40 x 30 centimetres. Multiplying all three together gives 60,000 (the volume in cubic centimetres). Dividing this by 1000 gives 60 (the volume in litres) and dividing this by 3.8 gives 15.8 (the volume in US gallons).

If you can figure the volume of the tank, the rest is simple unit conversion. Compute the volume based on a known shape.
Example - Length* Width* Height = Volume of a rectangular solid
Pi*Radius^2* Height = Volume of a cylinder

Obviously you cant measure volume,so, I will give you the common sendse method. Fill the tank then drain it into a vessel with a known volume, five gallon container for example. See how many containers it will fill. Pump, siphon or pour depending on your situation. Suppliment five gallon container with, gallon, quart, pint containers-whatever it takes.

why don't you get the owners manual of the vehicle and look in it. They will give you the tank capacitys for the vehicle you just need to know what your car model is and edition and it should tell you
