Too little too late. The idea seems to be to cut off the retreat of Hezbollas south of there. Had they done this the first day they might have accomplished something.

The best way to win a war is to isolate the opposing force and eliminate it. They failed to do this soon enough. They still may put a big dent in Hezbolla.

what does the Israeli troops hope to accomplish " IF " they reach the Litany River ??
It has to be one of those 2 meanings :
- either Mr. Olmert to tired of his position as a Prime Minister, and he wants to resign fast by making terrible mistakes !!
- or the Israeli army is " tired of living ",and it is becoming "suicidal" by going deeper and deeper into the Lebanese Land, and that is exactly what Mr. Nasrallah wants !!

It is easy when Mr. Olmert goes in front of the world and says that he is ready to take this war as far as it takes.(well well, that's a tough cookie for ya !!) mean while,he begs Dr. Rice to find him a way out of this mess. !!!

The Israeli losses in this war have been tremendously high so far - although their media does not admit it,but it is true - therefore, I hope - for their sake - that it is high time to admit, after over a month of fighting, that they are not facing an easy enemy. Thus, and if they decide to go as far as the Litany River, the consequences will not be pleasant for them at all.

Well, originally, Israel lied about the true instigators of the current conflict in order to gain international bias for their occupation of a 2 mile stretch of Lebanese land. Now that they are in, the real intention has been realized. The plan to occupy land to the Litani river, the Zionist's plan that has been well known since the late 1800's. This smoke and mirrors media show is getting really lame.

Israeli troops have moved 30 km into Lebanon - they are on the move with ground troops & Hezabollah seems unable to stop them. Hezbollah only works with terrorist tactics - sneak & kill.

It's a visable marker that runs across Southern Lebanon. It's far enough away from the Israeli boarder where it would be harder to launch home made rockets from Lebanon and into Israel.

It's the first move in an encirclement of the Hezbollah forces, and disabuses them of the notion that they might somehow escape defeat.
