served in New Guinea?

I just found my grandfathers discharge papers. I never knew where he had served because he died before i was old enough to understand. He was with the 27th air depot group. Anyone out there that might have served in this area or know of someone who has. any info would be very much apprecaited.

My grandpa served there too. Its was during WW2 when they were fighting the japanese. my grandpa wasnt a pilot but on the ground. he fought through new guinea, and then onto guam, and iwo jima. Thats all I know because he didnt talk about it so much before he died. My father knows more about that, but he doesnt have the need to use this technology.
