Yes Offcourse islam is relegion of peace.
Even if you are at war, you cant do the following
1) kill civilians (the one who is not fighting with you)
2) cut down tress or plants specially the one which gives fruits or vegetables
3) harm old men
4) harm women
5) harm kids, childrens
6) to cut down part of the dead person, u have to respect.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those were the things u have to care about during war.
In peace it is not even allowed to destroy the place of ants.
Once prophet Muhammad and his companion were on journey to some place and He stopped at a place and the companion was making fire, but He stopped them and said, Here is these ants home and make fire somewhere else. You can see, He cared even about Ants, This is just propegenda agaisnt islam that it is allowed to kill human.
Qurans says:
"Who ever killed a single soul(here it is not mentioned, muslim, its means all human), it is like he killed all human beings
and whoever saved a single life(soul), He is like, he saved all the human beings. "(Al-quran)
and who ever are talking that you can kill non-muslim, that is not right, during, war, it is compulsory that you show bravery and go for jihad and fight your enemy and people mis interprets that.
Jihad means to defence against ur property, your soul, your relegion. and everyone knows that it is the right of a person to do that.
People take Jihad meaning just to go for war. No, It has many meaning, Jihad can also be done to help others by writing, by doing good.

There is a difference between a non-believer and an infidel. An infidel is a person who at one time accepted the teachings of the prophet Mohammed and now rejects the nation of Islam. This is in the Quoran, it would seem that the terrorists that seek to destroy the Infidel non-believers may have missed this point.
The Quoran describes exactly how prisoners who are non-believers should be treated and it is more accomadating than the Geneva convention, once again it would seem the terrorists missed this part.
It is obvious that most Muslims like most Christians have not bothered to study their faith, finding it more convenient to be preached to.

Get a collection of newspapers dating back to 1979, read them when Muslims are in the news and then reach your conclusion.

I think what they mean is, it's peaceful AFTER they kill off the rest of us. And, of course, after one sect (Shiite, Sunni, etc.) kills off the others. And then, they kill off everyone who disagrees with their own local "cleric". After that, Islam is peaceful.

Some say it doesn't say that--some say you have to read it in Arabic to "get it." Some say that it pertains to when they are attacked first.
I don't know. All I know is that some read it, believe it, and act on it. And the rest don't seem to be objecting too loudly about it.

All we need to know is that killing is bad. We all know that; some times people just choose to ignor it.
