Baby showers are generally for women, the guy should show up at the end to carry out all the goodies. But if you must go, then by all means, go casual.

Smart casual - so long as you're clean and tidy, everyone will be more interested in the present and the mother-to-be.

depends on how well you know the parents. but obviously you dont know them well or else you would know what to wear.
i would sugest dress pants and a simi-casual shirt. or vise-versa.
