My chi is a brown colored dog with only a little bit of hair. And you can now see blackish/brown blotches on his back and head. He hasn't been acting any different,I'm just curious if anyone has ever incountered this before. And if they might know what it is. Thanks in advance

It appears from your question that these spots have just appeared?

There are numerous causes - age spots caused by sun exposure, tumors, or a condition called Acanthosis Nigricans. This has multiple causes:
1) Friction caused by obesity or conformational abnormalities. 2) Endocrine imbalances including hyperthyroidism, Cushing's disease, or sex hormone imbalances. 3) Hypersensitivities due to food, inhalant (atopy), or contact allergies.

I would have this checked into. It could be a symptom of a serious problem.
