No. Religions try to instill values just as the educational system does in this country. The brainwashing comes from the American capitalistic system by putting commericals on the television that children watch. The TV influences children a heck of a lot more that any religion or school in my opinion from the food they eat, the toys they want, and the clothes they wear.

Religion is basically stamped into children when they're very young. They don;t get a choice of which to follow, or whether they want to. It's just what they are told. Even in non-denominational schools they have Christianity drummed into them. At nursery as well. It makes them not have a choice at the beginning. But when they get older they usually choose whether or not they want to follow it. It tells children to believe fanciful stories about miracles and things that could never ever happen. And also, religion tells people not to lie.....when what are they basically being told to do? And nobody kill me for saying that.

religions have a tendency to try to introduce a closed sytem of thought to young minds... the idea being that if you can catch them young enough they will not see that they are being indoctrinated into a system of thought that is entirely belief based
and once the basic premise is accepted on faith all the rest follows...

Religions don't brainwash anymore than schools teaching science do. It's just the fact that religions teach religion, whereas schools teach science. And sometimes teh schools teach science that's wrong, or history that's wrong. The Ben Franklin Key thing has been disproven, and evidence shows that GW never cut down a stupid cherry tree.

Yes they do. I'm still trying to undo all the fears I've got after being raised christian. Children shouldn't be forced into religion.

Here is a blog article I wrote on that topic http://mrhackman.blogspot.com/2006/08/thats-my-girl.html
My impression is that the question writer was actually stating an opinion and not asking a question.

i've got continuously maintained that all and sundry non secular judgements ought to be made with the aid of the toddler whilst they have reached an age the place they're able to effectively and logically determine their very very own non secular ideals. I as quickly as attended a Catholic provider with my pal and stated that most of the provider includes together reciting prayers. Later I asked how significant prayers are whilst they have been memorized and repeated by using fact teenagers. i've got faith that prayer ought to be a much extra intimate and private connection with God. He ought to hearken to your man or woman words, not words you have been taught. That being pronounced, to thoroughly withhold faith from a toddler could avert them from being as open to it at later tiers in progression. i've got faith that coaching the concepts of religion from teenagers instill values that final an entire life. regardless of if, to commit a toddler to a minimum of one church and their ideals by using fact of kinfolk ideals and so on. is reducing that toddler off from that close intimacy he/she ought to discover with the aid of making those judgements for him/herself. coach all of them styles of religion and enable them to be sure what's an outstanding extra healthful.
