Grandpa is not doing well :( Mom and I need to get to Finland ASAP and ticket prices are so high right now.

There are two sites. Hotwire and Priceline. They work differently. On Hotwire, you enter your destination and dates, they will give you the lowest rate they have. On Priceline, you bid on flights, sometimes your bid will be accepted, sometimes not.
First go to Hotwire. Find out how cheap they will sell you a ticket. Then go to Priceline and bid $50 less than the Hotwire price. If you get the lower price thats cool. If not you can still get the pretty good price on Hotwire.
