He sometimes tells me that I'm great, and that he enjoys talking to me. We get on very well. We laugh a lot together, and have various in-jokes. We tend to think in the same way, and often say things the other was about to say. We're friends, but I can't tell if he likes me as more than a friend. He's a few years older than me, and he says he's shy and he doesn't meet many women in his normal life. I once told him that no one ever likes me as more than a friend and he said 'I'm sure there are those who care deeply but don't express it'. How much should I read into that? He's the sort of person who everyone gets on well with, and he has lots of friends, but I think he talks to me more than a lot of those, and we have more deep and meaningful conversations! I don't live near him, so I usually talk to him on MSN messenger. We talk on MSN quite a lot. Short of asking him (which I don't have the confidence to do), how can I tell what he thinks of me?

Love takes time, and believe me, if you're not sure if he loves you, then he doesn't. But that's not a bad thing. That just means that your relationship hasn't developed into that yet. I've been dating my girlfriend, we're both in our mid-late twenties, and neither of us have exchanged the words, "I love you" yet. That way, when we do, we'll mean it. Then it will mean so much more than just words.

Awww hon.

You should meet up, it's hard to tell what people really think or howthey are feeling in black and white.

Just be careful he's not too much older though, you know what I mean, stay safe!

It's a hard question to answer. I think that perhaps you shouldn't read too much into his suggestion that "...there are those who care deeply but don't express it."
