He is going for an interview to come to the USA. I don't know how clear I can make that. He is not a scammer or with the 419. He is coming to be with his wife and start a family. I know this for a fact for myself.

He should show that he can adapt to Western culture by making eye contact with the consular, have all of his paperwork in order when asked and give short concise answers to the questions asked.

Interview for what? There are a lot of internet based frauds with people claiming to be affiliated with the embassy in Lagos. More info is required.

By an large, visas (in this case an immigrant visa) are granted on the paperworki. The interview is to check the bona fides of the documents and the person.

There wouldn't be any assumption that the applicant is a fraudster or other criminal. I assume that you are an American citizen or resident, and that the USCIS has approved all that has to be approved.

if he is genuine, there is nothing to worry about. If you are his wife, tell him to smile at the embassy!
