I wouldn't have liked a stranger talking to me, it makes me uncomfortable. So good for the quiet white guy!

Like all other races, you can't judge the many by the few. What part of the country is your friend in? I lived in the rural south where everyone looks you in the eye, smiles, says hello. You yack with people in the grocery store lines. You can't take a walk because everyone is stopping to offer you a ride. (-:
I moved up north in a rural area, but an area that is popular with people from a very, very large city. They all seem to be super paranoid. They don't make eye contact, they get angry if people try to start a conversation. They all act like anyone they don't know is going to mug them. It's pretty awful. Fortunately, the local rural people are friendly, though I still think it's a much more openly friendly atmosphere in the rural south. I say rural south because I never lived in a southern city and for all I know, they may be just as paranoid.

Where are you from? This is common behaivor for locals of the northeast mainly because its so overpopulated, no one knows each other so they see it best to ignore everyone so no one will bug them for money or get into some boring conversation. I don;t like it but that is what people do here.
By the way it is not just white people, I think Chinese and Vietnamese do it the most.
Also I am assuming you don;t have much experience with women. They can be pretty uncomfortable with the opposite sex if they are about to get there hair cut.
also you could ask "why is it black men think all women want to talk to them?"

I think you are generalizing a bit too much. You can't judge an entire race by a couple of individuals.
Most white people would have at least greeted (at least we do in the society I live in). Some would have started a conversation even, although that's less common I guess.
I myself greet people, but then prefer being left alone. I don't particularly like having conversations with strangers unless they are quite an interesting character.

Well I'm not sure it has anything to do with race necessarily. It might be that those two knew each other from somewhere else and were not on speaking terms with one another anyway. Some people just aren't friendly towards strangers. Or depending on the age kids are taught never to speak to strangers so then they are grown ups still believing that they must not talk to strangers.

They're not. The fact is, different cultures have different ways of dealing with others. It's just not the custom for some white people. It's like how when you greet someone, you might shake their hand, or kiss their cheek, or kiss each cheek, or wave, or bow, or hug...it all depends on what you're used to from your environment.
Also, when I was young, I was taught not to speak to strangers because they might be dangerous. Even though most people that will talk to you mean no harm, I still feel apprehensive when someone I don't know engages me in a conversation. If you were taught differently, that's fine, but don't judge others because of it.

Okay, based on a report your barber told you, you assume all white people are a strange and depressed race.
Well, I didn't even get this second hand, I saw it myself. A black man hit the woman he was with. Using your criteria, why are all black men violent to their women as a race?

White: Thick, white discharge is trouble-free on the initiating and end of your cycle. standard white discharge isn't observed via itching. I can only guess the reason white people are weird is due to the fact that they have to support all the worthless people in this country who will not work and expect all the white people to support them and all the kids they have by them men who talk to them in hair salons. You think maybe I am right or do you think I am as stupid as you for basing an opinion of 200 million people on two single people.

Your question seems to have pissed some people off dunno why. I think you probably right, If was in that barbers i'd of probably said nowt (nothing) to the woman, just cos I dont know her and just the fact that we're in the barbers at the sametime wouldnt mean conversation time, unless I caught her eye by accident, or on purpose then I might say hi. Or if i did sumat clumsy or stupid i might make a joke. or i dunno a whole host of options may actually be possible.
