Yes it does! The easiest method is to give them the yeast and garlic wafers you can buy at pet stores...

You haven't done everything, not by a long shot. Was the pill you got Capstar? This is not a preventative. It will kill fleas on your dog within 12 hours, but it will not stop more coming on to the dog, which is what happens if you don't use a preventative. Flea baths also do not work - please don't waste money on any of the stuff you can buy in stores. Just get some Frontline, or Advantage, or Revolution for your pet, and treat your house properly too - i.e get a proper treatment, a spray, from a vets. No garlic is not effective, although the myth persists that it is. I'm sure plenty of people on here will tell you to use it. I wouldn't feed it to my own dog personally, since it's known to be toxic in large amounts. Chalice

I don't know about garlic, but fronline helps or K9 avantix, they both help the prevention of fleas, Flea eggs, Ticks and Mosquitoes to some extent* But save your dog some pain and next month, please get your dog flea "repellent" These last the whole month. Also, although this is off the subject, give your dog som heart worm pills. How old is the dog because it is not advised you use frontline on puppies under ten weeks old; I don't know why, but it might cause some problems I will have to look in to. But also, about the heart worm pills, take your dog to the vet to get a heart worm test or, most of the time, they will refuse to sell the pills/chewable to you. If your dog does have heart worms and you give it the pill, it has, so I hear, a 50:50 chance of dying. but discourage your dog from eating garbage at a garbage yard or any fowl, as it( the fowl in most cases), will have tapeworm, which steals food from your dog's digestive track, and your dog could die because of starvation. Also, not only the risk is high for tapeworm when your dog eats the fowl with the tapeworm or tapeworm larva, the fowl could also have some deadly diseases. So yeah, hope you enjoyed the the thing on how to prevent your dog from getting sick or dying. I don't know if garlic helps.
* K9 avatix is the only one I know that treats Mosuquitoes Also, always get your flea "repellent at the vets office to ensure health for your dog, not the Food Lion or Wal-Mart because these do not work as well. Hope you enjoyed a long page by doggies_will_rule Peace Out!!

In this day and age, why would you want to have a dog that smells like Garlic, when you
can have a fleas-free dog with a once-a-month treatment like Frontline or Advantage?
Frontline kills all fleas and ticks. Garlic only
keeps some fleas at bay, and doesn't kill anything.

I have heard that works also. I think my mom tried that with our dog. She made him some chicken and rice that had quite a bit of garlic in it and he ate it. It's supposed to make it nasty for the fleas or something of the like. He didn't really seem to scratch or bite himself very much after that. The treatment that I think works best is the stuff that you can put on the dog. It's in a little tube that you break open and you go along the dog's spine with the oil. I remembering doing that to my dog and it worked very well. Good luck.

It is reputed to do so, but as another person said, it gets rid of people too! :^)
Your best best is to get some Frontline Plus & discuss the flea problem with your vet. This is also a VERY common question on Y! Answers, so you could do a search for more in-depth solutions to fleas.

yes yes yes and you can go to Wal Mart and pets mart and get the garlic and yeast pills for fleas and ticks and you cal actually put garlic powder in the food every 2-3 days like a 1/2 tsp if you want. or do what the vet tech says and spend a whole lot of money on the drops.

Hmm, I wonder if this is to say that fleas are equal to vampires? Hehe.
I have heard that in small amounts it is alright for domestic animals to consume garlic. For some reason, once garlic is introduced into the pet's system their blood becomes less appeaning to these parasites as well as real vampires. =)
