They have loads of safety features, and they stick to the road with all wheel drive, my mom has one, and the performance is pretty darn good.

I would go with old ones (240, 740, 940). they are very slow, but very reliable and safe. Stay away from Turbo and 6 cylinder cars. They are less reliable. They are all driven by same 4 cylinder B230 family of engines and these engines are known to push 500K miles. My only complaint is that the rear seats do not fold all the way down.

the old ones (240 740 960) were very reliable but the parts are still expensive and the AC sucks on most of them. the 850 and V70 version are better but the parts cost even more and over 1999 model suck due to the electronic throttle. the newer v70 that looks like the s60 is rather good but once again parts cost even more

any king of volvo are made well, the wagon has a great feel with space, made solid so there heavy but safer when you are in a accident, my wife's friend had two, she said that she would never buy a different car because they are made so well, so i would give the volvo wagon a 10 peace

It is alleged that one was hit by the Stansted Express and all the occupants survived......I think that's quite a good recommendation!
