If an antibiotic cleared this up previously, it is probably an abcess caused by the playmates rough housing. Just a tiny little bite allow the saliva to enter and then the bacteria causes the abcess.
If it is on the ear flap itself...it could be a hematoma, but you said it was behind the ear? (neck area)

Depends upon the lump, or the looks of it.
Injury could cause a hemangeoma - a blood filled clot that may go away or may need to be drained, depending on it's size.
Injury could also cause an abscess, which is an infection. The injured portion fills up with pus and needs antibiotics/possible also needs to be drained, depending on severity.
Saliva could cause an infection because it carries bacteria & germs.
You need to see a vet again! And keep this dog away from the playmates who are biting his neck!

No saliva would not have caused it. It could be a sebaceous cyst. They can disappear like that and are benign. I suggest you have it checked the next time your dog sees a vet. It's not anything to panic over. You do want to watch it. If it gets much larger then have it examined before it gets too big. There isn't a lot of extra skin in that area for suturing so you don't want it to get too big. Dalmations are notorious for growths. Like I said don't panic but do have it looked at. A vet can do a fine needle aspirate of it and look at the cells right there in the clinic under a microscope. If they suspect it to be anything other than a cyst, or a lypoma they will send the sample out for analysis. Hope this helps.

I would check this out with your vet as soon as possible. It could be a gland problem and if left untreated may lead to lymphmatic cancer. It could be nothing more than a cyst, but better safe than sorry. Especially since it came up so quickly. Good luck

it sounds to me that it could be an abcess, for saliva to cause problem the skin would have to be damaged, then bacteria would get in.

It could be a cyst or a wart, you don't need to get it removed but it's more aesthetically pleasing and eliminates risk.
