They won't follow you, nothing is going to happen. 10,000 is nothing. They will follow you if its more than $1,000,000.

probably phoning your citizens advice bureau would be a good place to start, they'll be able to tell you exactly where you stand leagaly, whether or not you could get away with doing a bunk for a year or two and if you deside to stay they can get the bank to freeze the interest so that you are more able to deal with the dept.
if i was planning to do a runner i think i'd run up a bit more than ten grand tho
everything i could on hp and punt it on ebay, lol
seriously tho i've a friend who use to work with me had ran up about £14000 worth of loans credit cards etc he pissed off for about 6 years working on cruise ships visiting the uk for maybe a month or two at a time
the bank still has to this day never caught up with him - he's been back 5years. he had a bit of trouble getting a morgage however i'm pretty sure everyone who has been out of the country for a year or two does
good luck whatever you end up doing

Well Sir,
If you are going to leave the country, may i suggest that you take them for a lot more than £10k.
What you are planning is a big decision and for £10k i would prefer to face the music.
Think long and hard, its only a bit of debt, you are not a criminal.
In for a penny in for a pound.
You may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.
If you have family and friends think again

You'd leave the country over a £10K debt ???
There are places you can go where the banks can't touch you but you'd better be prepared to never come back. Alternatively you could go bankrupt or tell them you can't pay the full amount and offer 50% as a final settlement. They will accept - it will cost them more than £5K to hire the lawyers they need to sue you.

most banks are linked now, so its harder.
I could tell you how you can get away with it, but i would get done for it.
if your in debt, see a debt consultant, talk to your banks, go to a solicitor and try and get a court arrangement where all your debts are combined and pay interest free payments, or go bankrupt.
your credit rating would be bad, and find it difficult in the future.
Try your hardest to get it paid, and dont do the mistake again, Its only 10.000

Depends where you go. May i suggest outh america, or any country without an extradition treaty. My brother emigrated to new zealand owing 'lots'money, he will be arrested for fraud if he ever returns to uk so make sure it is somewhere you will be happy, isn't it better to try and sort things out here?

they will catch you in the end, you can only stay out of this country as long as your passport has life on it, failure to pay will result in CCJ's against you, if still unpaid your passport number gets a red flag, when it comes time to renew it...and you will have to if you want to stay abroad, then the game is up.

I think it will just be registered as a bad debt against you.
The address you live at will be affected and letters may just keep coming and coming, distressing anyone who lives there.
