Is the Maverick 88 all-purpose 12 ga. a good gun? If you have one, do you like it?

I owned a Maverick 88 security shotgun and NO problems with it. There is little difference between it and the Mossberg 500; in fact, my receiver was stamped as a Mossberg 500; the only real difference I think is how the barrels fit to the receiver and where the thing is actually made.

I put plenty of rounds through mine with zero faults. It was a solid little shotty that did what I needed. I eventually sold it and got a 500 Cruiser, but onyl because I wanted the additional capacity.

The Mav88 will hold 6 rounds, 5 in the tube and 1 in the chamber, as long as you remove the hunting plug it comes with. Also, they aren't "old" guns, as far as I know they are still new production...

Production started 1989.
The Maverick 88 would not be the pump action shotgun I would recomend to anyone. Used they are worth $100 - $150 dollars if you can find a buyer. Spend a few more bucks and buy a Remington 870, a fine pump for the money.

I have never seen one, but i think it is a really old gun, so it might be a little risky
