I've had a few things here and there but don't have much experience at bars. What are some good drinks and why? And what is the best wine? I tried merlot once and liked it, but there are so many different kinds and I don't know all the differences!

As far as wines go, if you like merlots it sounds like you enjoy drier wines, so a good (and cheaper) substitute is a malbec. A good Argentinian malbec is the Trapiche. You might also like a cabernet sauvignon, a shiraz or a pinot noir; or youu might also enjoy some dry white wines (personally i love Dry Reislings and Gewürztraminers). A good way to experiment with wines that you are unsure of is to sample some at wine stores or find a wine bar and ask the bar keep what he or she would recommend. The best wines are not always the most expensive.

Hope some of this helps. Cheers.

Water! No I'm not kidding though it may sound like it. You will have many suggestions to help you celebrate the day and/or night of your Bday, but I am thinking of the day after. If you would like to avoid the morning after hangover drink a glass of water for every 2 alcoholic drinks ALL night long. Just order it with your first drink and sip between drinks. The next day...no hangover because you kept your body hydrated the night before. (dehydration is the main culpret in hangovers) Happy 21st!

If you're not really used to drinking, be careful... You will get drunk, fast!

Some good drinks?

My VERY favorite is "Sex on the beach"....... *Yum*

Some other great ones to try, would be......

*Strawberry daquiri, frozen, with sugar on the rim
*Margarita
*Tequila Sunrise
*Mudslide
*Cosmopolitan
*Vodka & Cranberry

Also, if you like beer, and haven't tried Tequiza... Try it!
Ask for a lime wedge. So good....

Have fun, experiment!
But pleeeeease, be careful, 'k?

Happy early birthday!! :)

Rum and Pepsi, with 2 or 3 shots of tequila straight, and some Baja Rosa. Not all mixed together of course, spread out over the night ;)

As far as cocktails go I'm partial to Long Island Iced Teas. With wines I like Pinot Noir.

by making people wait so long (21 whole freaking years!) to have a sip of alcohol is what causes these type of questions! The second people turn 21 they go club hopping and drink so much "just because they can!" however in lefkada greece you jut have to be tall enough to order to drink, so i recommend a strawberry daiquiri (sp). Let that be a lesson to all you kiddies!

pena coloadas are good but strawberry daquiris are great! long island ice teas are very strong and have a mix things in them. i have to say that margaritas are my favorite though! it really does depend on the bartender a great deal. like one person already said: at some places u will like a drink and at others u will think it's nasty!

My first LEGAL drink was a gin and tonic, but I already knew I liked them. It's best with Bombay Sapphire gin.

A good drink to have that's not so serious is a Seabreeze: cranberry juice and vodka. I had 5 of them once, then tried to stand up. I failed!

Happy Birthday!!!!

I like purple hooters, or screw drivers....i always drink them when I go out. Dont mix drinks and beer, if you drink beer dont drink drinks..and if u have drinks, dont drink beer. As you go out more you will find that you like some drinks at some places and the same drinks are nasty other places....it really all depends on the bartender.
