Recommended replacement is every 3-4 years.
After that the ability of the battery to hold a charge reliably is in question. It could leave you in a very bad situation, since there is little warning when it finally goes out.

Depending on the battery, it can be every 3-4 years. My original battery is still in my car, which was purchased brand new 9/00, so the easiest way to tell is during routine maintenance, ask that the battery be checked. You don't want it to die on you at an inconvenient time:)

When it needs it. Check voltage, "Green EYE" or cells if you can monthly. But here is some personal info. I have 1996 ford ranger, OEM battery from new. never changed it works everytime. Wife and nana have Geo Prisms, 1994 and 1996 with GM Alternators. when battery goes bad, alternator overworks and burns self out. between the two cars, replaced alternator near each battery switch due to low voltage output from alternator. What a PAIN in the BUTT and costly too.

4 yrs. is long enough to risk getting stranded somewhere. Change it out when you get a free hour or two because it will go out when you really don't want it to. You will spend the money anyway if you plan to keep this car a while.

Depends on where you live and driving habits. Warm locations and short trips are harder on the battery than cold locations and long trips.

it depends on how often you use your car, how long you have your radio or lights on without the engine on, depends on what car, and what type of batterie, depends on the wheather and if the altanator is working proporly so i would have to say change it every 6 mouths for perfromance but if is about money then when evern you need to, just check on the life of the batteri, take it in to a shop or some new batteri have a self telling life gauge on it....peace

Replace the battery whenever it needs it. You do not need to replace it until it goes out.
