My 16 year old said he is going to grow his hair out long but he won't keep it washed or styled and it looks awful. Even the parents of his friends are commenting on how bad it looks. What should I do?

He needs to keep it washed at least, otherwise it will always look horrible. But some guys can pull off long hair. My friend Matt has hair longer than mine and I can't imagine him any other way.

Well sometimes it looks really good.It has to go along with the shape of ur face.There are somegirls out there who feel that same way about long hair on a guy just the same he does.So if ur son likes it then I would let him be confident about it.

My son is like that to.Its comming back in style I have seen it at the school.Theres nothing we can do about it.Remember being a kid yourself.At least your son is doing what the rest of them are.I cant stand it but I have to live with.Nag at him to wash it more .I have to do that with mine.I sometimes talk my son into letting me trim his bangs .If you nag enough and agree not to touch the rest you should be able to get that far

Hmm.....Well what i would do(I'm a teenager and I have a friend who did the same thing) is get a friend of his (a girl works best) to tell him that he needs to wash it, simple as that, with my friend it worked, he won't listen to his mum,but when it comes to his friends its different, hoped this helped

Its cute when boys have long hair, especially when they keep it in braids going straight back, make sure washes it first

It depends how long it is. Anything past the chin, isn't really my style when it comes to boys. But it all depends on the style of the person.

Well I am 19 but when I was 16, I didn't think that long hair looked good on most guys..You should tell him that it isn't a good look for him and that he should cut it..Tell him that he would look better with shorter hair and see what happens..

there was this guy at my school, and in grade 9 he was reppin the look you just described that your son is sporting, and it was all in front of his face and it was long and straight and lanky and looked sooooo greasy and gross.. but then, one day, he comes to class and its CUT to like 1.5 inches long and turned out that he is reeeeeeeeeaaallyy good looking haha the hair cut worked wonders and he became a ladies man no joke

I think some boys with long hair look very nice. Like Bo from American Idol and that other one (i can't think of his name). Sometimes it can look very sloppy and sometimes it can look very sexy

well it depends on how long it is. i think about 3 inches/skater look looks good. but he needs to keep it washed. he doesnt have to style it just make sure its washed. unless he doesnt look good with skater hair then he shouldnt have it long.
