Ok.... I have three year old basset hounds... I am trying to get them on a daily walking routine, but only one (male) of them seems to enjoy it. The other two (females) just almost refuse to go. One of the little girls tucks her tail and walks backward trying to go home. I know that a walk is good for them but I haven't realy been able to manage getting them more than about 1/4 of a mile. I walk them seperately so that they don't pull my arm out of socket. Any ideas on getting them to actually enjoy a walk.

You may need to find a partner to help. I had one that was terrified to walk. He wanted to go with the group though.
So we would sneak the leash on him. Then he thought he was walking with the group. It would take him a minute to figure out he was on a leash.
He got used to it fast and did not mind the leash anymore.

I'm not sure, but I would try letting them spend some time outside, near home - on the front porch area or near the front door? - and see if maybe they just need to get used to the idea of outside, and familiarize with the sounds, smells, etc. in your area. Also, maybe try tempting them with snacks or toys?

Our yellow lab wouldn't go off the front porch, much, at first, but we kept him outside, and waved sticks in front of him (he's a stick chaser/chewer), and now he'll wander around our whole yard.

Bassets are known to have trouble with the hind legs. Check with a vet.
