wrong. He was here among us he walk among us and many worshiped him. To showed us in the flesh how he was like, but we killed him, I mean his body. Check in the bible 1John 1:1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4We write this to make our[a] joy complete. and also John1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning and 14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,[d] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth

The one you want a relationship with is Christ.
God can be, but you would have to live perfectly in the laws of Moses there are over 600 laws.
God is a God of Law.
I can tell you I have such a relationship, but I can not even tell you how I came to this relationship, how he is my friend.
I can not tell you how, or what to do to have what I have. There is no Book, chapter or passage, that will. No ritual or chant that will.
Prayer may not even do it.
It happens! To each it is a different experience, and a different relationship.
I wish I could say read JJJ chapter 3 verse 7 to 12 and wa la you now have a personal relationship feel it? It doesn't work that way! and if it did maybe it would not mean that much.
What I can say is, ask your higher power for a little wisdom in earnest, and take a bible and just let it fall open and read both pages and think on it.
Sometimes (not always) a light comes on.

Well, that's one perspective. I'm not going to say you are right or wrong, because I can't make that decision for you.
The way I see it is that having a personal relationship with God is looking for God within you.
You are probably thinking of God as some being which has been ascribed with human qualities. Maybe the ever popular image of an old guy with a long white beard and flowing robes sitting on a throne in the clouds in outer space somewhere?
My image of God is of life. In other words, there is no specific image. The God I believe in is a formless, genderless energy source of all life. The process of life itself. The process of life IS all around us. Everywhere you look. It is within you. It IS you!

Well, you're on your way...think about this. You acknowledge he created you. Created your body, everything inside you, your personality, your hair, etc. and yet you directly contradict the intimacy that that creation implies by saying he's not a personal god. Don't you know anything you create very well?
Also, He is here, around us, talking to us, though not always with words. And I know I talk to Him ALL THE TIME! No, he doesn't answer down in some booming voice, lol, but he does answer, you know, in 'mysterious ways' like the saying goes. He's a personal god if you let him into your life and allow Him to be. If you keep Him at arms length, He's not personal. He can only be personal to you if you sincerely invite Him to be.

Wrong--Jesus (God incarnate) did live among us,walked this earth and now dwells inside of us( in the person of the Holy Spirit)We can talk to him, worship him , all day if we want. It's the relationship that we have with him that determines how personal he is to us. Read the Holy Bible and meet your Creator:)

The word personal means "like a person." A personal God doesn't necessarily have to be among us, He just must have traits that humans have, like emotions, thoughts, will, etc. Since Christians believe God had these traits first, that's why we say that humans were made in the image of God.

Um... what about Jesus? He walked upon the face of the earth and then ascended into heaven. He had many many many witnesses. Around 500 people saw him after he rose from the dead. Lots of people did see him when he was here.
Oh, yes. God also walked with Adam before Adam sinned.
So actually, God was on earth until we turned our backs on him. If we turn back and run into his open arms, we will see him in person again someday. Jesus loves you, buddy.
No offense taken.

Frankly I think he/she is whatever you want/need him/her to be. Just as the journey is more important than the destination; the search might be more important than the belief. The fact that we strive to find something bigger than ourselves to believe in that is most important. I don't even think it matters what it is we believe in (God, Astrology, a Chicken God or whatever) as long as we don't think that the world begins and ends with ourselves. I strongly feel that is wrong.
Bottom line is, I think God gives us poor little humans credit for trying.
Peace.

i would recommend reading Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsh for perhaps a different view on god .. it help me to understand better and backed up things that i already believed god to be xxx
i feel similar to you about god being personal but i also feel we have a god part in us .. we came from god .. so even though he isn't as close and personal as we have been told .. he is forever there in a sense

Sorry you are missing it! God is here among us, He is everywhere. I talk to Him everyday. After accepting Christ for His payment of my sin, I was given the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit I am guided, comforted, helped and even given wisdom. You need to meet a personal Savior, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross so that His blood could cover your sin. God can see you as sinless after you accept Christ, this gives you a personal relationship with Him and eternity in heaven.

you know what's really interesting
alot of people are not aware of the fact that there were alot of sacred books written before the bible
they were written by man just like the bible was
you may benefit from a study of comparative religions
that way you will have something to compare christianity to
it is not the first religion and it will certainly not be the last
my belief is that we must all follow what resonates in our own hearts and in our own souls. no one can choose that for us but ourselves, thus "free will."
