I am the parallel parking champion of our neighborhood. Here are the tricks: (print out my instructions and have a friend read them to you as you practice!)

STEP 1: After identifying your parking spot, pull right next to the car directly in front of it. (as if you were parking right next to them, in the street---- you should be pretty close). Turn your turn signal on, so that people drive around you.

STEP 2: With your wheels EXACTLY straight, shift into reverse and back up until your front bumper is just in front of the rear bumper of the car next to you. then STOP!

STEP 3: Turn your steering wheel Clockwise as far as it will go.

STEP 4: reverse until your front bumper is behind the rear bumper of the car in front of you. STOP!

STEP 5: turn the wheel counter-clockwise as far as it will go and continue backing... Straighten out the wheels at the end.

NOTE; depending on the wheelbase and turning radius of your car, you may need to adjust some of these instructions slightly, but after some practice, make note of the points you stop at for STEPs 2 & 4.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: if parking on a hill, always turn your wheels to the curb before shutting of the car!

Please let me know what additional information you need, before choosing the best answer!

pull along side of the open area and check out if it is the same length of your car and some space between your front and back bumper to other cars.

turn your right blinker on so there is no excuse for any cars in back of you to try to pull in.

Use your mirrors for all your checking.

then pullup along the side of the front car almost 2/3 the length of that car

foot on brake move stick/or clutch to reverse

gradually start to pull back( slowly press gas pedal and lessen brake at same time/keep foot close to brake though) as you turn your steering wheel to the right to angle the rear of the car in to the middle of the open space

before you reach the curb with the right side back tire slowly start to straighten the car as you start to fill in the back of the space by very slowly turn the steering wheel back the the left.

If you need to pull forward to even out. Keep your eyes on all the mirrors and other cars too. Good Luck

Go 3/4 past the front car. Begin backing up slowly and turn increasingly sharply rear into the curb. When about 15" from curb swing steering the other way, making sure that the front clears the car in front. If done correctly, both wheels should end up closer then 6" from curb in one swing, no back and forth. Leave even space front and back.

ok...first pull up next to spot and visually measure if your car will fit there with turn signal on, pull up next to car in front of parkin spot so back bumpers are even, put in reverse, slowly backin up pull car in at 45 degree angle..once moslty in and with out hittin the curb with rear tire or car in front of you with front bumber, slowly straighten wheels and pull forward to straighten out the rest of the way...
if you straighten wheel to soon you will be stickin out in the road

my suggestion is to practice somewhere like a parking lot..pick 2 spots to try to get in and of

The best way is NOT to hit anything!
