I support our troops, but I don't support the war and never have. Is that possible? It seems that some people feel that it isn't possible, and so I'm wondering why not?

Absolutely.
My father served in WW2, hitting the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. By brother was a Marine embassy guard overseas during the first Gulf War. One of my best friends is going back to Iraq for his second tour this fall.
I completely support our troops. I just want them home safe, and not wasting their lives on a political junket that doesn't serve American interests and contributes nothing to our defense.

Yes you can support our troops and not support the war. The people that think you have to be one way or the other are the ones that are 100% behind the war or 100% against the war and think everyone should think like them. I'm pro war, but at the same time I don't think you have to be pro war to support the brave men out there fighting very hard to keep us safe.

Of course you can. Supporting the troops means caring about and doing nice things for the people dedicated enough to our country to serve it. Supporting the war has to do with ideology..your opinions about the war. I do not support the war, but I support the troops. My nephew just left for Iraq. He left his loving wife and 10 year old son, because he felt it was his duty. He is an officer in the Army Reserve with combat experience in Desert Storm (as a Marine). He feels that the experience and knowledge he has will be valuable to younger troops and he feels it is his duty to lead them the best that he can. He also does not 'support the war', but he does support 'his troops'. Now that is a patriot.

yes you can support the troops but not the war. I am the same way. My husband is over there again. The first time he was deployed he got hit and hurt pretty bad. Now he is over there the second time. I do not support this war but i will always support the soilders that are there.

Without question it is not only possible but more and more Americans are doing just that.
Our troops are made up of us. Could be your husband, brother, sister, or even your father so of course you must always support them.
By not supporting the war you are protesting the decision of one man. President Bush had an agenda when he first came into office. 911 gave him just what he needed to follow through. Never mind that lessnd supporting the effort to find the leaders of the group that attached us. Just fighting terrorism is not something that looks good on your resume. But a full fledged war against an old enemy, well now you have something.
To support your troops and not the fight in IRAQ is a protest against his policy but can not take away the value of those men and women who are fighting.

totally...there a a thousand of ways to support troops, just search online for non-profits if that is the route you want to go or simply just thank a soldier for their service. The worst thing this country could do is to turn its backs on the troops like it did in Vietnam.

Absolutely, I am a female soldier and sometimes soldiers themselves dont support the reasons as to why we are at war, but we are only doing our jobs...............we are trying to fight everyones freedom and when the president (our commander in chief) says that we are going to war, then all we as soldiers can do is listen and prepare ourselves and our families. Its the job that we signed up for and we appreciate all the support we can get.............supporting the troops boosts morale, which most of the time is lacking is war zones!

I support the war, but not our troops. Just kidding. Sure you can. Don't let any of those idiots say otherwise (I'm conservative and can't stand them). They try to stigmatize you if you're against the war by making you look bad when it comes to our troops.

Of course it's possible. I despise the inept political decisions that have placed our troops in harm's way without good reason. But I do hope the troops do what they have to do, and I pray that all return home safely.
