Most likely a custodial sentence of indeterminate length. That's probably good for 25 years certain, but can essentially mean forever. A specific life sentence is also highly possible.
And don't pine the lack of a death penalty in the UK. Their prisons are no joyride and many are downright terrifying. Even in the US, a death penalty would be highly unlikely since the effort was abortive.

Unfortunately the British Government is so frightened of upsetting the 2% of the population who are Muslim, they will probably be given 6 months community service and then re-trained as aircraft engineers.
As far as I am concerned they should be locked up on a prison ship, with the key thrown over the side and the bilge pumps switched off.

Life, and that means life not 4 years like they do at the moment. They must be in a high security prison with limited day time NOT the prisons with computers, games, entertainment. They should rot and have a miserable life.

Who knows! I don't think the British have the death penalty and I have heard a lot, but seen no evidence! Have you seen any??
