Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

You are going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for the solid teaching. but fill up with spiritual junk food -catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They will turn their backs on truth.

For there are a lot of rebels out there, full of loose, confusing, and deceiving talk. We need to keep our eyes on our Lord and stay faithful to Him. We need to run a lot of errands for our Lord to be good servants, and keep ourselves in good standing. I do not want to seek popularity here on earth, I rather be famous in heaven. We need to spread the Gospel, because there is so many people who do not know that Jesus really loves them. They do not understand the seriousness of their state. Plant seeds. We cannot change anyone's heart. God can.

1 Tim 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
1 Tim 4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
1 Tim 4:3 men who

It will come through men.
How will it come through them, and what men?
Will it be on street corners or will it be in the churches, where people go to hear----???
I think the churches.
I have heard quite a few of them already.
They teach false doctrines.
It has been going on for quite some time. Don't forget--give me the money.
This is the thing. If you don't know the Bible, they can tell you anything they want, you won't know the difference.
You don't know the truth and you are not free from their false teaching.

Has there ever been a time, when people didn't follow deceptive spirits? When were we not afflicted by demons? I've met a few people with no conscience, they are hollow. No amount of love, can fill their void.

I believe in the Lord, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us to be like those that had oil in their lamps and additional oil. This way we would be ready at all times. Just praise Jesus, keep the faith and keep on keeping on.

Every religious doctrine contains some advisory of this type. It essentially asks you to reaffirm your faith and not be swayed by other religions. Fine for the faithful to build their own faith, but don't take it to seriously or as an impetus to impose your will on others. History shows us that this type of thinking ends badly - inquisitions, witch-burnings, Nazis (Don't forget Hitler thought himself to be a devout Christian who was delivering a 'perfect' Christian world by eliminating anyone who thought differently).

Ignore the whacky Revelations business, which no serious student of the Bible would touch and focus on Christ's message of tolerence. Remember all of this started with Christ being upset over the cruelty with which his society treated sinners and gentiles.

Do you really think it's just in the future (or now) that people will be turning away from Christianity? In case you forgot, Eve turned away from the faith after she saw THE TRUTH. As people are raised in Christian hypocrasy and start learning that there is a real TRUTH, of course thye're going to turn away from it. We are not just blind little sheep - we are our own people with our own minds.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts they shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be burned unto fables" (2 Timothy 4:3).

Yes, it is happening.

I think it means that some christians will start conforming to the ways of the world.By adding to or taking from scripture their own interpretations to justify the thing that they are doing against God.

There have been people following "other spirits" for thousands of years, so when exactly is this end of time prophecy happening?

Lol,

The council added that line because they realized that the age of enlightenment was around the corner and normal, rational, intelligent humans would reject the absolute garbage that was written in that book.
