Contrary to popular belief, souls die (Ezekiel 18:4).

"For the living know they shall die: but the dead know not any thing..." (Ecclesiastes 9:5).

That makes a lot of sense.

The living know so little, how could the dead know anything?

The truth of the matter is that you just don't know for sure. What is for sure is that the inner spirit leaves the physical container (the body) upon death and enters the spiritual realm. Many believe that Christians go straight into the presence of God and Christ while others believe that there is an intermediary state that man's spirit rest until Christ comes the second time to rapture those that are left and bring with him the spirits that have gone before. Others believe that for those who are not Christian then they find themselves in Hell or a place of immediate punishment. Whatever a person's beliefs death brings about separation from the body and spirit.

I believe that we are here on this earth plane to learn and to teach. We can teach in many ways, from being a school teacher to helping someone see the beauty in nature. I believe that when the body dies, the soul lives on. Beyond this existance is another much like it. We continually learn so that we can help those in need on the physical. emotional, and spiritual levels. We also make choices over there as to what we might do in our next incarnation. The veil between here and there is very thin and some of you can tell when you are dreaming and have been contacted by those who have gone on before (loved ones or those you have known). At times, like I just mentioned, there is reason for this earth plane and the other to exist much closer together. When you cross over, you may get the chance to come back and help those that you have left behind, in one way or another. To dream is to sometimes visit a soul that has gone on before you.

I don't know about souls but I tend to believe as onelm0 does that the soul dies because it is a part of the "human" Phsyic. I know I do not die,I lived before I had this Body and I will continue to live after it is gone. KHAEOS, I met a great saint from India and he said that the SPIRIT stayed near the body for three days. LOVE Whistle Britches

It goes to the next plane of existence. That's all I can say because we don't know much about it. It's obvious if you've ever been to an open casket funeral that there is more soul in a photograph of the person than in the body. Therefore the soul must be somewhere else.

Our spirit goes on to a place called the spirit world( which is divided into paradise and prison) awaiting the Resurrection( body and spirit are reunited in their perfect form) and final judgment( judge according to our choices). After the judgment according to our choices we sent to either the celestial, terrestrial or telestial kingdom (which are degrees of glory or heavens) what is just about this is we do not end up somewhere we are not comfortable.

According to my beliefs, souls ascend into heaven or what we think is heaven. The body is the shell of the soul as a great man once wrote.

The soul dies.

Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Since there is no such thing, nothing happens. However, the essence of the person moves on to a higher level where you can either be reincarnated or continue to function as a being at that higher level.
