He sometimes tells me that I'm great, and that he enjoys talking to me. We get on very well. We laugh a lot together, and have various in-jokes. We tend to think in the same way, and often say things the other was about to say. We're friends, but I can't tell if he likes me as more than a friend. He's a few years older than me, and he says he's shy and he doesn't meet many women in his normal life. I once told him that no one ever likes me as more than a friend and he said 'I'm sure there are those who care deeply but don't express it'. How much should I read into that? He's the sort of person who everyone gets on well with, and he has lots of friends, but I think he talks to me more than a lot of those, and we have more deep and meaningful conversations! I don't live near him, so I usually talk to him on MSN messenger. We talk on MSN quite a lot. Short of asking him (which I don't have the confidence to do), how can I tell what he thinks of me?

Your just friends. If you have good talks all the time, even the shyest guy in the world can use that as a spring board to ask a girl out. He has not done so, so he does not want too.
(is he a couple of years older then you as to make it a Crime to date you, if so you have your reason....)

I understand how you feel (I'm shy too) but the only way to know for sure how he feels is to tell him how you feel. If he's receptive, you'll both get lucky! If he isn't, the worse that could happen would be an awkward moment. He's your best friend, he'll stick around, have a little faith.

I can't tell you for sure.But looks like he likes you more than a friend.He may be one who cares deeply about you but don't express it!!But I would suggest asking him how he feels about you would be a better option rather than making assumption

if your heart feels for him something more than a friend, just get there and tell him straightway, you want something more.... no secrets inbetween good friends... still, i prefer you to be cautious till you know him quite good, coz, talking on MSN can never reveal everything.... good luck..

sounds like you are just really good friends, truthfully without asking him it's gonna be hard to tell how he feels about you since you aren't living in the same area
