It is an excellent gun, but a lot of gun. You have to have good hand strength and experience to handle this pistol properly. It is not for a beginner. It would be like making your 1st solo driving experience in an extreme muscle car or buying a Harley as your 1st motorcycle. It is also a uncomfortable gun for concealment if you are not a bigger person. No pistol is a good source of protection if you can't handle it with fluid competence.

No. They are too big and unwieldy. The Baby Eagle, closer to conventional size, is more appealing but I'm a Glock man and in standard calibers prefer the Glock. In .32acp and .380acp I prefer the Beretta and in .22LR, the Walters P-22.

In revolvers I see no need for anything larger than a .44 Magnum, and practically, the .357 Magnum can usually get the job done.

When Desert Eagle first came out with their .50 Caliber Action Express I was buying .10mm practice ammo. The sales person showed me the .50 and how even a .45 Long Colt (rim and all) dropped through the .50's chamber all the way to the ground. I tried holding that behemoth .50 caliber pistol and it hurt my hand merely trying to hold it firmly. So no, I wouldn't buy one.

i wouldt buy a desert eagle it is much to large to fit most hands....i look at it as a show piece...coll to see , but no need to own. on the other hand check out the baby eagle pistols the all steel models are very nice despite their hefty weight (you could always trow it all someone if you run out of ammo) and they are pretty reasonable 500new and ive seen them for around 280 used.....heard they are great shooters...hope this helps

No, they are expensive, and unreliable. You could by two guns of better quality for what one desert eagle costs.

I have a friend with a desert eagle. He is very fond of it. I have shot it a couple of times, and I was impressed.

My Son has one in 44mag. It looks really impressive but it is hard to shoot. If the pistol is not held perfectly level when a round is chambered it will jam. If you accidentally get your hand against the mag while firing it will jam. If you don't stiff arm it when shooting it will jam. I now know why Laura Croft is so young. If she relies on this pistol she will never last long enough to get old. :-)

The 44 is a revolver round, this pistol may work better with the 50.

I would recommend the Desert Eagle, I have one myself and it works very well and is very reliable, I would definitely say it is one of the best pistols on the market.

No, it is too big to be effective. There are nicer pistols at a cheaper price anyway. Unless you have tons of money. Then buy it to stroke your ego.
