I recommend the fall to visit Disney World. October - mid November is one of the best times to visit! Kids are back in school so the crowds really dissapear, and the weather is a bit cooler than July or August. It's still plenty warm enough to swim and go to the water parks, but you won't die from the heat as much. You'll want to avoid holidays though like Thanksgiving. That is when the parks crowds pick back up.
Disney World has dozens of lovely resorts to stay at. If you are on a tight budget, I recommend staying at the Disney All Star Resort. This is Disney's economy resort and is great for kids. If you'd like a bit nicer of a hotel, try one of Disney's medium-priced hotels such as: Coronado Springs Resort, or Port Orleans.

Best time to travel to WDW is between October and February with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Food and Wine festival is still going on during October including concerts by groups such as the Beach Boys. In November the Parks start decorating for Christmas. In December the weather is still mild. January and February are not crowded, but the weather can be somewhat cold especially when the sun sets.

If you would like to stay near the parks just inside of the Disney east gate, I would recommend the Doubletree Guest Suites (in the Downtown Disney area). It includes: 1K or 2Q, a sleeper sofa, refrigerator, microwave, sink, on-site convenience store, bus transportation to the parks, and is very suitable for families.

February I think is one of the cheapest times to travel..I have stayed at the "All Star Movie" hotel in Disney (the cheapest hotel in Disney) and it defiantly has a lot of pros ie. you get to stay after closing and you benefit from being allowed in the park before it opens..also you have no driving worries as you get free buses to and from the park..The cons are, you are in a room only so eating can be a bit difficult because you have to eat out all the time which can be a bit expensive.
This is the website I found had the cheapest Disney tickets, I used them last year and had no problems with them

Have a look at this website, its not luxurious but its only a place to lay you head at night....

I have booked Ventura Country Club for next year I found it to be reasonable rates...

Best time is the end of August as the schools in the South are open and the lines at Disney are very short

As to a hotel, shop around. There is a benefit staying in one of the Disney hotels as you are allowed into the park earlier. Shop around.

My uncle who works there told me once that Feb is the perfect month to go. Every time I have been in Orlando, I stay with family so I'm sorry I don't know any hotels. Have a great time!
