Depends on the terrain. Crocs and Nothinz' are both good for standing for long periods as well as city walking, because they have good ventilation, good arch support and good shock absorbing capabilities. I wouldn't wear them on a hike, though, because they're not fitted and you'd get stuff in them. If you're talking about walking in or on grass or hiking, pretty much any decent walking or hiking shoe should do. Trail runners in general are good for light hiking and walking. If you'll be standing for a while, maybe just look into some kind of insert.

Just look for shoes with good arch support if you'll be standing for long periods, especially on concrete. Also look for good shock absorbing in the heel and ball of the foot for lots of walking.

Some good brands for walking/standing in the city (in my experience) are:
Teva
Naot
Mephisto
Dansko
Keen
Crocs
Nothinz'
Earth Shoes
Merrell (they also make good hiking shoes)

If I'm walking and on my feet all day (most days) I either wear trainers or Dr. Marten's. You need to have a thick sole between your foot and the pavement. I work on my feet all day and always wear totally flat shoes. My feet and legs never ache.

A crepe soled nurses shoe. They're not really attractive but they will be easy on your feet and legs.
