I would like to know if anyone has used the ATM machines in France and (may sound like silly) does it give your money back in Euro?

yes you can use it anywhere in Europe. Beware though that the fees for withdrawing cash there will be steep- but you will get your money in Euros. You are better off making your purchases with it. If you need to make an exchange of cash, the post office in France generally gives the best rates. If you need cash, take travel cheques. They can be used in most hotels and to exchange money.

Yes -- you can use Visa in Europe -- at ATMs and in stores. You even get a better exchange rate than if you exchange Dollars for Euros at a bureau de change or a bank.

Yes, they take Visa everywhere these days. You should call your card provider about the extra rates that they charge if you do use a Visa in another country. Also to prevent being denied, you should also call your card provider that you will be using the card in France. (helps to prevent theft). Yes, if you use your card in France...it will give you money in Euro. =P

yes, you will have no problem using your debit card for most purchases or to get cash (in euros). you don't want to carry much cash. when i travel i always bring some travellers checks i can cash in case of emergency, and they are cancellable and replacable at the american express office right off of the opera house metro station (write down the serial numbers somewhere for fastest compensation). be careful riding the metro, lots of pickpockets and grifters who will try to distract you. keep a tight hold on your purse when in train stations or in line for museums.

YES, YES AND YES..
but it's a HUGE FEE...
Better to prepare yourself instead of swiping the plastic at those ATM machines in EURO..
It will give you the $$$ in their CURRENCY.. but again.. BIG FEE frm ur bank here..
