I just recently have been getting this dialog box opening. media center receiver service has encountered a problem and needs to close.when I looked at the detailed info I saw this.

remove and reinstall from scratch

If this is Windows Media Center I have had a lot of problems with mine. I finally had to remove and completely reinstall mine and now it is working fine....except for a tendency to take over when using another program (like a different dvd player. When it does this I have to "X" out of Media Center and restart the other player)
