Singapore. East meets West. Helpful people. A big part of the population speaks English. Excellent food. And the island is very convenient. Traveling there wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket.

I've never had any desire to travel to Asia. One of my sisters went to Japan as part of a mission team who did repairs and remodeling for a Christian camp that had had no work done on it in decades. She had to work hard, but she did enjoy her time there.
I've also had a number of friends who have traveled to China. All have found that country to be a fascinating place to visit. The one piece of advice all would give to anyone going there is to just keep in mind that China is a Communist country....so you need to be careful about what you say (i.e. topics you talk about).

I will have to say People's Republic of China because there's alot to see and eat. Now you could go have a train ride to Tibet. How about that you could be like Brad Pitt in Seven Years in Tibet. You could eat alot of dishes like Canto Shanghai and so on. And dont forget 2008 olympic biggest event shook China in ages

Depends on what you are going for - if you need beaches go to Thailand/Indonesia, sight seeing & culture - India/China, East meets West - Hong Kong Singapore

Going to Vietnam in Oct. second time in 36 yrs Looking forward to not being shot at. Always liked the people, it's very pretty.

I've been to Japan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. But by far China is my favorite! I can't wait to go back there.
