it is Simple. To treat everyone in the army fair regardless of whether they are rich or poor, from being in the same uniform to their training programmes.
SO not one is special unless of their religion. it is also to have a neat & clean look. So when it comes to showering, it will be a fast and smooth one as there are hundred of them in a platoon.

That is a d--- straight good question, I've ALWAYS been curious myself!
I got to come back for the answers. People should be allowed to wear their hair however!
Besides, there are people with "freaky" hair that will do a better job than people with shaved or conservative hair!

Actually they dont have to get there heads shaved. During basic training they get there heads shaved so that it one less thing to bother with. After basic training they dont have to have there heads shaved.

there was a battle a few centuries ago where hand to hand combat was in vogue and if you had long hair it could be pulled and used against you, i think hannibal was the first to order his men to have short hair

I have heard it was due to lice control in the old days, now I think it is to make everyone look the same.

there are plenty of reasons one is so it won't get in there way another is so they alllook the same another is to make them go much faster

easier to keep clean and neat and because it represents them losing their individuality.
