ok, I went to the zoo on Thursday, and I noticed that there was poison ivy around everywhere! Afterwards, I went home, and showered, and washed my clothing. Today, I wake up to very irritated eyes, with what looks like puss pockets close to the iris of both of my eyes, and definite poison ivy on both arms. I also have itching in throat and down in my ear. Is what is in my eye, throat and ear poison ivy? It is itching and very irritated. Any body have any home remedies that might work?
thanks!

You need to go to your local ER or an urgent care center. Poison Ivy in the eyes and in your throat is dangerous.
DO NOT use benadryl creams or bleach remedies. These are more harmful and can cause further problems.
Use Dawn, Joy, Palmolive, or lye soap to wash the remaining oil off of your skin. It is the oil not the fluid from the blisters that is causing you to reinfect yourself.
You can get IVY Dry, calomine or caladryl, or Zenful (very very expensive) over the counter as a topical cream for non serious cases of poison ivy.
Orally, take benadryl (it is safe orally) or claritin.
Your md can give you a steriod shot and follow up with oral steriods for 5-7 days.
IN YOUR CASE GO TO A DR THOUGH ASAP>>>>

Only a doctor can deal with this in or near the eyes. Do NOT wait. Go to a clinic if you can't get into your own doctor, and if you don't want to go to an ER.
On the body, here's what I do: wherever there are bubbles full of fluid, I take soap and running water and scrub up. Dawn or other dish soap or antibac hand soap will work just fine.
Then with the soap all over the infected area, use a scrub brush coarse enough to burst all the bubbles. Rinse.
Now wash (soak)with lots of rubbing alcohol to dry it all up.
Then use calamine lotion.
Load it on so that it is covered well.
You will find that the bubbles will try to reemerge in places, but nothing like before.
Treat these in the same way as often as you need to, when the itching is starting to get to you. It won't last long, maybe a couple of days.
Also pills like Benadryl help with the itching, but you don't want to take anything that works against what the doctor will prescribe.

Ok so as far as near the eyes, i don't have a clue as to what to tell you on that, but The irritation that you are suffering is caused by the oil that the rash is producing. Not sure what its called but here is a remedy for your arms. If you are itching severly, forst off GO TO THE DOCTOR. They can give you a hot that can help with the itching and swelling until htem use any dishwashing soap, (ie Dawn, Palmolive, Joy) and wash the affected areas. This will remove the oil and stop the irritation, also Calamine lotion will help with the itching. In the future, if you suspect that you have come in contact with Poison Ive or Poison Oak wash the area with soap and water within 30 minutes and you should be ok that's how long it takes for the sap to bind itself to your skin. Hope this helps

you should go to the doctor to help with your eyes. but, i had an enormous case of poison ivy on both my legs, and after 2 weeks of total agony cause the prescriptions weren't working, my ex told me to try this:
take a hot shower, as hot as you can tolerate, do not scald yourself...stand there, grit your teeth cause the bumps will swell and become very itchy and irritated, but try to stand there for several minutes, do not touch or scratch at all.
when you just can't take no more, turn the HOT WATER off quickly and turn on the COLD full blast! and do the same...stand there.......this will have a numbing effect and may be hard to tolerate, but, grin and bear it.......for several minutes...turning around the expose all the rashes......
REPEAT both of these HOT & COLD showers 2 to 3 times.
do this every 4-6 hours, until you no longer have the ultimate desire to scratch or feel the pain.
don't ask me how this worked, but after my 2nd session, i was finally able to get some sleep.
this can also work sitting in the tub and filling it up with HOT water, not scalding, soak in it for several minutes, DRAIN, and then fill with COLD water. Alternating this HOT and COLD somehow gets the rash to come to the surface, then the cold water shocks it, closing the pores to squeeze out the poison.....i guess. but, IT WORKS!

sounds to me that you are very sensitive to poison ivy. I dated a guy that was like that. If he got any where near it he would have the same allergic reaction that you just spoke of. My suggestion would be if you can't get to your doctor for several more days-have you told them how severe it is? If so- you need a new doc-because apparently he doesn't care. My suggestion would be to go to the ER to get a allergy shot. Once you recieve this- you should start to feel better in a day or two. Allergies to poison ivy can become very serious. Don't put this off.
