It was the British government who figured it out and stopped it. The terrorist being arrested are primarily from Pakistan, a country we haven't even attacked...because the War on Terror is dead. It ended when we invaded Iraq, since they weren't a threat.

When are we going back to fighting against the terrorist threat Al-Queda?

I think some of you may have misread my question/comments. I realize there isn't as much of a terrorist threat (although there are terrorists) in Iraq....that was exactly my point. Why are we there and not trying to find the real terrorist threats in Pakistan?

Terror plots are most likely to be exposed 2-3 months before the American election cycle.

Remember: Only the republicans are tough enough to take on terrorists.

Terrorist threats have been a major issue for the U.S. from the first time the world trade center was bombed. If the news media doesn't have anything to report you are not going to hear of it.

The people who wish us harm are not dumb. They know it is not an easy thing to pull off so they take there time and try their best to only have people they trust involved. It is very hard, impossible, to infiltrate this circle so all governments must rely on people outside that seem to know something. Not good at best.

Contrary to some peoples option there is not any party that is better than the other in combating terror. They have to get lucky.
If President Bush is taking credit for uncovering this latest plot I have no idea why. He was informed of this like all the rest of us via Interpol. There seems to have been some connection in the United States but not sure of those details.

There is no politician that can take credit for uncovering anything. This is the job of the FBI and CIA and, for the most part, they are good at it. Regardless of who is in office next time they still have to rely on these services. What they do with the information is another story.

If you get a piece of information that falls right in line with what you want to do, like take out Saddam, then you run with it even if you receive other, more credible, information that the first is wrong.

At least one republican seems to be good at that. It is clear, and has been for some time, that attaching IRAQ only accomplished one thing. Captured Saddam.

What it also accomplished was to rid the earth of tens of thousands of innocent Iraq’s people along with close to 5,000 of our own troops. While our troops were busy doing this the terrorist had free rain to do as they will and we are seeing the results today.

If we had put our resources where they belonged we may have captured or killed the leaders of all the terrorist and made it safer for the whole world. Instead the United States went from the most sympathized with to the most un-trusted country in the world and our enemy is flourishing.

And this isn’t going away anytime soon.

Correction on what you said...

"Why are we there and not trying to find the real terrorist threats in Pakistan?"

I know you cant be in the military cause you wouldnt of asked a question like this but your mistake was in your comments when you said WE what you mean is why is the US military there. Dont give yourself the credit like you are doing anything about this world wide problem.

Just keep sitting at home watching your CNN and let ones standing up against terrorism try to fix this so that you can spend a great evening with your family.

Just a point of view - how many of us were afraid of terrorist before invasion of Iraq?

Mos of these bad guys are no Al-qaeda (in fact this organization is dead long ago) ,maybe apart from some videos of Bin Laden in their hard disk which anyone can easily find and download all around the web.

I call this post Iraq terrorism - created and inspired by the wrong political decisions of some leaders.

And I am afraid they will try to correct this errors - by provoking more wars (bombs on Iran may fly next) and more fear on their own citizens.

Because peoples who have fear can be easily manipulated politically.

you are seriously stupid lmao

you have been so brainwashed by the media

there was no terrorist threat in Iraq they went to get money

this "terror plot" you refer to was so obviously a set up, a child of five could figure that one out

911 was a plot to get power to go in 2 Afghanistan, so they could get access to the Caspian sea which is the largest natural gas reserve in the world, which led them in to Iraq to get oil.

this has all been about money and power

if you had a brain you would read about it your self instead of having to ask idiots like your self what the media has brainwashed you into thinking

so what i advise you to do is research

don't just sit back and watch TV and let them tell you what to think because all they are doing is lying to you

I suppose for the same reason that he gets credit for finding all the WMD in Iraq (and for the same reason my students can't understand college-level writing).
