It's called a preauricular pit. My son was born with one as well. While it is almost always nothing, you should tell your baby's doctor about it at your first well baby check up so that they can run a few routine tests. My daughter has a tiny little glob at the top of her ear. It is harmless, and I think your son's little hole is, too.

Don't worry about my husband has one and he has been to numerous doctors worried about, but they all tell him not to worry. The only thing that freaks me out is that sometimes a foul smelling mucus comes out, but other than that he's fine and it does not affect his hearing. But just to calm all worries in your mind consult an ENT (ear, nose and throat) Doctor to make sure everything is allright. GOOD LUCK!!
