you want to know what others think, but not to answer the same questions because you consider the info too private? Voyeurism, in other words?

What a load of crap. If people had private personal problems they wouldn't post them on here for the world and his brother to see.
Besides, if you didn't, you would know if your answer had already been given by someone else.

If I see a question I really feel interested in, I usually write my answer without reading the rest. But sometimes I am very interested in what other people say so I read their answers too. They are there to be shared, after all. Sometimes when no question appeals to me, I browse down the answers. Some answers are really funny and I can have a good laugh. Others make me think "Oh, I didn't know that" Others are interesting. I like to read the chosen Best Answer to a question I answered too. I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all. Had a giggle tonight with a question asking for jokes ... there were a few funny ones there! How is that voyeurism?

You should always read the other answers because it's sort of redunant to provide the same answer that's already been given 10 times. Plus, you may think you have the correct answer to provide, but discover you have a little more to learn by the more accurate answers given. Reading the answers is what everyone SHOULD be doing before giving a response.

As for what you want to answer, no biggie. Move on.

No, I don't think that's wrong. If they wrote those answers it means they're ok with other people reading them.

It would be different if you had a one on one with someone and first asked them to them reveal something very private and listened to that and then refuse to do the same yourself. That would be rude. But here on Yahoo, I don't see the problem.

Why not see what others think? I usually have already thought up my answer before I even read anybody else's. But I like to see what others think, because it gives me a better idea of what the global community is like. If it was wrong to see others answers, then yahoo wouldn't leave it so everybody can see it.

I have never thought of it being the way you stated.. I would never believe that others think that way either.. Many people read answers because they want to know.. that is the main reason.. or I think I know the answer to that but I will read to see what others say.

Voyeurism it isn't. It's curiosity. Don't be ashamed to answer unless you want to hide something. We all read the other answers.

There's nothing wrong with that. Just don't be too afraid to be open with the truth about embarrassing stuff. Yahoo answers is pretty anonymous anyway.

No. You want to learn, that's a good thing. You don't need to answer the question.

I think its good to read other answers, it gives you an idea what other people think. It should not influence your answer though.
