The place I work has 4. Very annoying! How do you keep them quiet? Don't tell me to set them free or kill them.

Yes, Keets can be noisy. I totally understand. The bad news: Short of making them sleep all day, you really can't make them stop. The good news: Eventually you get to where it doesn't bother you. I used to raise birds and sleep over guests were often annoyed by the early wake-up singing. It never even registered on me.

What to do if you can't take it anymore: First, talk to your supervisor. Maybe it would be appropraite to move the cage farther away from your work station. Be ready with a fair and objective list of reasons why the birds should be moved. Do they interfere with hearing people when you answer the phone? Does the chattering bother other people in the department? Could you make the case that it impacts on customer service or professional atmosphere? Could you suggest another place to put the birds where other people can "enjoy" them? How about splitting them up into two cages so they aren't all together, yelling over each other?

My best advice is to try to find a happy medium. Good luck negotiating with your boss and my sympathies.

I had a parakeet for 12 years and he wasn't too annoying during the day. Does your bird have a mirror or 'fake' bird in the cage to keep it company? Parakeets are very social and if they're left alone (without their own kind) for a long time, they can die from loneliness. You can trick them into thinking they're not alone with mirrors, etc. Maybe all the noise it's making is to try to attract a mate?

Parakeets are natural chatters I have yet to see a Quiet Parakeet. Maybe you could suggest to the others to get some Finches they are not that loud, but really you can stop them from making noise.

To keep them quiet temporarily, place them in separate rooms from other birds (or in your case, seperate them), cover their cages, give them a bath so they will be busy preening, or give them food which takes a while to eat. You can also try turning on some very soft classical music...although sometimes, it may backfire and make the parakeets chirp even more.

Hope it helps! ^-^

If they are where you work, you'll probably just have to get some ear plugs. Depending upon your place of emplyment, you may be able to call the board of health and have them removed. OR, claim that you are allergic to them.

They are annoying, lol. One of the reasons I don't have birds. But there is nothing you can do...at least you know they are happy! :)

they will be quiet if you cover their cage. Use a piece of fabric.
