I'm a senior this year in high school. Durring every summer break I get into a routine of falling asleep at 8 or 9 in the morning and waking up at 4 or 5 in the evening. School is less than a week away. I need advice on how to get back on track. Anyone here know what this is called? Help!

Wow, first of all I am sorry for you that you are sleeping away the day. You need to start changing your sleep pattern by a couple of hours at a time. Do not let yourself fall asleep until later in the day, and gradually; over the next few days work yourself into a more normal sleep pattern. Why are you sleeping the days away, are you depressed or is there something going on in your life that you are trying to avoid? You should probably have a physical at the doctors to rule out any medical problems if you cannot figure out what is going on. Best of luck to you and have a great senior year!

I have had the same problem!!! It will be hard but you just have to stay up! instead of falling asleep at 8-9 am Stay up. Talk to friends, family, God! But do not fall asleep!!!! And then go to bed about 8-9 pm or latter if you can. Set your alarm and get up at a decent time like 7am and do the same the next day! I did this and it worked for me. My husband is in the marine corps. and we did a lot of traveling back and forth to japan and now back and forth from california to north carolina, so I was always fighting with time zone changes. This what I did it might take a few day to get back into the swing of things, but if you start NOW you will be fine by the time school starts! God Bless!

Change it one hour at a time, and form a very specific pre-sleep routine. It will become habit. Also quit being a neocon, you'll sleep better at night.

Well my sugestion is to take it an hour at a time... Go to bed an hour earlier every night or two. This way you are gradualy changing your schedual. Try to cut back on your soda or coffee before you go to sleep.
