I wouldn't, try a crock pot/slow cooker instead. Here's a great recipe, you can read the reviews of others that have made it.

I wouldn't recommend either.
The best thing would be to put the chicken in the oven on a very low heat overnight. In the morning, give it a thorough basting and keep it cooking on the low heat until you leave. You can then take it out to cool slightly before carving it when you get back. It will probably still be slightly warm too and because it has been left will carve easier.
If it is only small, my suggestion would be to cook it the day before as late as possible but don't carve it or it could dry up. It is ok to serve cold meat with all the other roasted trimmings.
Chicken is one of the meats that if not cooked thoroughly will cause you to have tummy upsets, some of which could be fatal. Re-heating chicken is probably best done in a wok with a chinese or something like that because the heat is so high it will kill off any bacteria that may accumilate. Re-heated chicken, if sliced, is likely to dry out unless you completely cover it in gravy and warm it through gently on a low heat.
Good luck with the meal.

Its not a good idea. There are so much that could go wrong with cooking meat, especially chicken. You wouldnt want to be the one remembered at the picnic for making everyone have a trip to the ER. Just get up early on Sunday and cook it.

at the bistro i use to work at we served airline cut chicken. we would allways season then sear the chicken on either side till you get that nice brown carmalization. at this point we would store the chickens in the fridge till an order came in...... usually would take an additional 10-15 minutes in the oven. so long as your chicken isnt just sitting out on the counter its not in the time temperature danger zone. all these people saying that youll get sick obviously have little cooking experience.

No,if you partially cook a chicken, then you're inviting an old aquantence of mine called Salmonella. I got food poisoning that way. Cook the chicken all the way.

a chicken should nt take more than an hour and a half.... why dont you just make some finger foods, salads, appetizers for your guests so that when they arrive from church they can munch on while you roast the chicken instead... more rewarding meal and memorable event that way

Put the chicken in the oven before you leave for church. Hopefully, you won't take too long lingering outside of church, so that you can have it when you walk in the door.

Not advisable. Mainly taste wise it will be a disaster. It will be dry as yesterdays paper.
May I suggest cold lemon chicken?

One breast would do you for a meal. Just freeze the rest. Take them out as you go if you want. You can cook them any way you want. You can fry it, grill it, put it in a slow cooker, boil it etc.

i wouldn't do that. never tried it, but it just sounds wrong. Bacteria could grow in the chicken and get everyone sick.
