Thought something like a baby monitor to put ender bed or inside closet, that is wireless and I can hear from my room upstairs. it's our live-in nanny from overseas that cares for our 19 month old girl. She sleeps during the day while she shopud be working, does n't eat meal with us (only in her room), and complained the other day that she gets tired in the afternoon (am i suposed to let her off?). We hired her because I was 7 months pregnat at the time (due at any moment now) and needed someone to help. My toddler doesn't like her much, which is weird since she goes with everyone. Anbd latelly I found out she has been visiting travel and visas websites and I'm afraid she may just disapear from here. That's why i would like to hear what she says on her phone calls, to be prepared and safe if she is planning to just dump us or doing something else...Any ideas? thanks

I'm a Teacher and also running my own Business, and I plan to hire a nanny if I ever have children, but I totally disagree with your tactics.

She is your Nanny--NOT YOUR SLAVE. She has every right to eat alone, or want to surf the net during her daily "breaks". If she sleeps during the day--yes that is a cause for concern. But if all the housework is done and everything is taken care of--then its not too major--as long as she sleeps when the baby is sleeping too.

As for her wanting to leave--it just doesn't seem like this is a good connection between you and her. This just isnt a good fit. AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO INVADE HER PRIVACY---THAT IS AGIANST THE US CONSTITUTION--- AND SHE HAS A RIGHT TO SUE YOU IF SHE FINDS OUT. The Constitution gives us all a "Right to Privacy". Even the FBI has to get A WARRANT in order to wire tap. So its wrong for you wanting to do that--no offense.

If you think your child is in danger and that she's not good-THEN REPLACE HER--Period. And, yes, if your baby doesnt like her, then obviously this isnt working out...Let the agency know that its not working out and ask for someone else. But you cant expect a nanny's entire life to EVOLVE AROUND YOU AND YOUR BABY! They have families of their own, friends of their own, etc. Every employee is entitled to lunch breaks and smaller breaks during the day when they can surf the net, eat, run errands, etc. And adults have the right to eat dinner alone and not with their bosses! Slavery is illegal, and your nanny has the RIGHT to go home if thats her choice. Gee Whiz---if you want 24 hour service for your baby like that--THEN STAY AT HOME AND TAKE CARE YOUR OWN BABY.

I plan to hire 2 nannies--one for Monday, Tuesday, Wed, and 1 for Thursday & Friday..You cant expect 1 person to carry the full load of taking care of children, cooking and cleaning. They need to focus on their own familes and friends. Your 24 hour nanny idea is not good. Hire 2 part time Nannies--and they wont feel overwhelmed.

Peace

I don't think you should spy on the nanny. Everyone has a right to their privacy. However, if you feel that she is not doing the job that she was hired for you have every right to fire her and get a replacement. Not to mention I don't think you should ever leave your child in the care of someone they aren't comfortable with. You wouldn't appreciate it if someone left you stranded with someone you weren't fond of. My vote, get a new nanny and let the kid meet this person. As long as the child isn't happy you don't have the right nanny.

It would not make experience that you'll pay this one, yet won't be able to have the funds for yet another. in case your baby is responding negatively to this woman, then listening to what she says on the phone should be the least of your concerns.

I think that's an invasion of her privacy, and you would be wrong for doing that. If you don't like the way she works for you then let her go, but don't spy on her. Why don't you just ask her what her plans are?

Get rid of her immediately and get another nanny.
